Dalbello’s most popular freeride/touring boot, the Sherpa 5/5 ID Alpine Touring Ski Boots offer all the control you need to drive the fattest powder skis and still turn like a dream. The Sherpa 5/5 features an ultra-lightweight construction and a touring-oriented Bio-Stride tongue for maximum wrist mobility. Vibram soles make your life easier and safer when there are too many rocks to skin. The Sherpa 5/5 is a hiking machine in search of a powerhouse.
Fit
Fit: 100 mm – A good medium width for a comfortable touring experience.
Contour 4 Shell-Fit – Dalbello’s exclusive construction technology that maps the anatomical contours of the foot to create subtle “comfort zones” at 4 critical points of the foot: ankle, heel, 5th metatarsal and navicular. Raised contours molded into the lower shell at these 4 points allow for a precise fit and minimize the need to modify the shell. The benefit is a snug fit with no pressure points, immediate comfort and a reduced need for shell modification.
Lining
ID Thermo Sherpa Pro – Slip and flex walking functionality // Classic front entry and tongue design // Factory preformed (for easy testing), 100% custom thermoformable Ultralon EVA foam and HD + Enact™ foam laminates // Optional lacing.
ID Thermo Pro Liners – Jointly developed by Dalbello and Intuition® Sports engineers in Vancouver, Canada, I.D. Thermo Liners are the lightest, warmest, and easiest fitting indoor shoes in the world. Hot molding eliminates relative movement between the liner and shell, improving response and precise, powerful transmission of energy to the ski.
Shell Materials
Cabrio Design – Cabrio Design ski boots are uniquely designed to integrate 3 components: (1) the lower shell, (2) the upper cuff, and (3) an outer shell tongue. This allows the use of stiffer plastics in the lower shell without affecting the smooth, progressive forward flex, and strengthens the support around the foot for precise lateral power transfer. The benefit is smoother power transmission, progressive flex and dynamic rebound, better shock absorption and easier entry.
Shell / Cuff / Tongue – PU HEM / PU / PA
Stance
Bio-Stride Tongue – The Bio-Stride tongue is an outer shell constructed of resilient and responsive polyamide nylon plastic. The Bio-Stride is a patented two-piece hinged tongue assembly that allows the tongue to follow the movement of the leg throughout the range of motion of the glide/stride/walk, whether forward or backward. When the WALK mechanism is open, the tongue hinges backward to enhance walking and sliding. When flexed forward, the two parts of the tongue lock together to function as a solid, one-piece tongue.
Balanced Center Position – Modern ball skis and today’s lateral skiing technique require a much more upright and neutral (flatter) position. Once reserved for racers, Dalbelllo is the first company to offer this performance enhancing technology to the hungry masses. The Center Balance “Rocker” position allows skiers of all abilities to take full advantage of their equipment by centering their body mass in the sweet spot of their skis for more power and control with less effort.
Ski/Walk Mode
Low Hinge Cuff + Dual Axis Ski/Walk Mechanism – Sherpa models feature a high leverage cuff with hinge points mounted approximately 10cm lower than standard construction mountain bike boot models. The low-hinge cuff allows the boot cuff to more easily follow the natural movement of the skier’s legs because it has a greater range of forward and backward hinge movement. The Dual Axis Walk/Ski mechanism complements the range of motion by incorporating two sets of hinges: one hinge for forward flex and a separate hinge to extend the range of motion backward.
Buckles
Dynalink – Dalbello’s exclusive Dynalink closure system: instep buckles connected to the shell for a highly efficient rearfoot closure system minimizing foot slip, heel lift and boot shell distortion for better control and performance leaving the cuff free to flex.
3 micro-adjustable Alu buckles
Power Strap
The Dalbello Sherpa 5/5 ID Alpine Touring ski boots do not have a Power Strap.
Sole
AT Norm w/Vibram + Alloy Tech Inserts – Rocker geometry, Vibram® rubber outsole with Quadrablock stability pylons for easy walking, climbing and high traction for off-piste functionality. All Sherpa models can be used with ISO 9523 Alpine Touring Norm bindings; Sherpa models with Alloy Tech Inserts can be used with AT bindings compatible with them. SHERPA models are not designed to be used with ISO Alpine bindings.
